The Show

After an overwhelming demand (ok a few persistent people) I have decided to start a blog. This is my attempt to completely and utterly embarass myself...I mean organize and record all of the random stories and happenings that occur in my life that other people seem to find so entertaining.

From the Desk of El Presidente

Now that she has her own clip art she's entered the world of blogging. This is the first of many guest appearances for EP on The Show. Please keep an eye out for her new column that will appear sporadically and infrequently...like all posts here do...

To-Do or Not To-Do - An Adventure in Lists
By El Presidente

Have you ever wondered where ideas come from? Not any specific type of idea, necessarily, just ideas. Either random or deliberate thoughts that pop into your head and you then, wisely or not, decide to verbalize to whoever will listen. At times, the process may seem utterly difficult and insurmountable. At other times, however, perhaps in the company of good friends and many beers, it's as if the floodgates have been lifted and here you are….a modern miracle of human thought.

Why this tangent, you ask? Well, I was just pondering exactly how I came about writing a guest spot on someone else's blog. And, a deeper investigation revealed the true underlying matter at play here: My "To Do" list suffers from a terrible fear of commitment

Insert [moment of realization] here

Take a moment if you need to, I certainly did.

Humor me through this thought process. Like many others, I am a busy person. So, what do I do? I make lists. Lots and lots of lists. I have handwritten lists, Excel lists, post it notes lists. I have personal lists, long term goals lists, weekend lists, work lists, grocery lists, travel lists, workout lists…..the list (no pun intended) goes on and on. Mind you, the irony is that all these lists are intended to make my life more organized. I know what you're thinking but let me remind you that you are temporarily humoring me (don't worry, you'll be back in front of CSI: Miami reruns in no time). Just say, "I get it, the girl loves lists" so we can move on.

And, these lists are long.

Now, if I start my own blog, given my generally ambitious nature, I will add that as a "to do" item on my list. And, once it gets added to the list, it's on there as a constant reminder of how much more I can be doing with my life (quick someone call Type A Personalities Anonymous, we have an emergency here!).

Alas, to help me avoid yet another stress-inducing commitment, Jayne had this brilliant (and generous) idea while drinking at Prof. Thom's the other evening…a guest spot on her blog.

So friends, you see, the point of all this is that, when faced with an interesting dilemma, there is always a good idea somewhere just waiting to come out. Let the thinking (rhymes with "drinking") begin!

With that, I thank the VP and her kind and patient audience.
