Born to Run
I heard a story the other night that I had to include in The Show. While at dinner at a quaint family owned restaurant in the one and only Bloomfield, NJ my uncle told me a story about my parent's wedding. While this is not usually a hot topic of conversation, we were having a good time and my uncle was feeling a bit nostalgic. So, Uncle Billy went on to tell me that apparently he had a friend named Myra Weinberg - a nice Jewish woman he knew from work. Well her brother was looking for some work in 1972 and my uncle asked my parents if they would like his band to perform at their upcoming wedding. Although my parents had heard of Myra's brother's band, they wanted $700 to play the wedding and my 21yr old parents could not afford that at the time. They hired a full band of no-name wanna-be's for $200 and called it a night.
Ok, now I must interject - while listening to this story, the Weinberg name sounded familiar, but I didn't think it could ever possibly be the Weinberg I knew. BOY WAS I WRONG.
Yes, I come to find out he was talking about THE Max Weinberg - the one and only drummer for Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band. I can't believe I just learned that was the day my parents turned down The Boss Man to play at their 66 person wedding. DAMN!
