The Show

After an overwhelming demand (ok a few persistent people) I have decided to start a blog. This is my attempt to completely and utterly embarass myself...I mean organize and record all of the random stories and happenings that occur in my life that other people seem to find so entertaining.

The Augusta Diaries

As some of you know, I am currently hanging out in the lovely Augusta, GA. Known for The Masters golf tournament and not much else, Georgia is definitely a different state of mind. Augusta is a distant land from Brooklyn...

In light of my my new surroundings, I've been inspired to dedicate this post to the town they call The Garden City. While the nicknames might be similar, this is no New Jersey!

My first Augusta Moment (AM) happened at the airport when the very nice lady at Avis told me my midsize car was ready. She said I had the choice of a 4-door Altima (sensible) or a brand new 2-door white hot mustang. I obviously chose the latter. Driving down the highway going 75 (legally) with pollen swirling in the air, I arrived in town in style (and with my luggage crammed in the teeny trunk).

Also famous for being the birthplace of the Southern Baptist denomination, my second Augusta moment occurred in a restroom. This AM took place in the women's restroom at a local lunch hotspot known for good food, cheap beer and allowing its customers to write on anything and everything in the place. As I excused myself and headed to the restroom I admired the local "color" on the walls, tables, bars, etc. Phrases like "Britney wuz drunk here"and "Michael loves Holly '06" adorned my table. As I entered the dimly lit, somewhat scary bathroom I was regretting my decision to not go when I had the chance at my hotel. As I closed the door to my stall, the phrase, "I am in love with the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost!" nearly smacked me in the face. It was the phrase that only a true Southerner could write. I was so unprepared for this moment, I searched my pockets for my camera phone, but hadn't remembered to bring it with me. I wanted to display this item for all to see, but the thought of it and this post will have to be enough.
More postings to come on Augusta...on I am sure plenty more Augusta Moments...
